It's Embarrassing To Be Canadian Now
When you think of Canada, which qualities come to mind? The world's
peacekeeper, the friendly nation, a liberal counterweight to the
harsher pieties of its southern neighbour, decent, civilised,
fair, well-governed? Think again. This country's government is
now behaving with all the sophistication of a chimpanzee's tea
Canada is slipping down the development ladder, retreating from
a complex, diverse economy towards dependence on a single primary
resource, which happens to be the dirtiest commodity known to
man. The price of this transition is the brutalisation of the
country, and a government campaign against multilateralism.
The Canadian government lies to their citizens just as much as
any other corrupt nation. If you ask most Canadians why their
military is in Afghanistan, they don't even know the answer. More
than eighty percent of the population believes it has something
to do with the "war on terrorism," but they are clueless
on what that actually means.
The lack of geopolitical knowledge is largely due to their mainstream
media as in all countries where the media controllers are few.
However, most Canadians are completely ignorant to the fact that
oil interests and protection of the opium cartel are the only
reasons their military even has a presence in Afghanistan.
In terms of emissions, Canada ranks 2nd in the world. Their record
on pollution is simply disgraceful and shameful. This is a country
with less than 35 million people and the second largest landmass.
Even China, with 1.4 billion people and a smaller landmass has
lower emissions per capita than Canada.
In 2006 the new Canadian government announced it was abandoning
its targets to cut greenhouse gases under the Kyoto protocol.
No other country that had ratified the treaty has done this. Canada
was meant to have cut emissions by 6% between 1990 and 2012. Instead
they have already risen by 26%.
In terms of health care and overall health system performance,
Canada does not even rank in the top 30 countries in the world.
It turns out that universal coverage for medically necessary health
care services provided on the basis of need, rather than the ability
to pay, is not such a great thing, it's destructive. Life-threatening
waiting times often encourage many patients to leave the socialized
system and seek care elsewhere.
For the past decade, Canada has been on a mission to consistently
introduce bills and legislation that limit access to natural health
products and dietary supplements. Just as previous bills they
have introduced, such as the consumer protection act, Bill C-51/52,
the newest Bill
C-6 makes the same promises to ultimately destroy health freedom
So there you have it. High pollution levels, destructive health
care, and a government that makes every effort to remove the health
freedoms of its citizens. In under three decades, Canada has quickly
gone from one of the best countries in the world, to one of the
worst in the developing world. These days, it's embarassing to
be a Canadian.
