12 Simple Ways To Embrace Nature

The Earth is our mother and she still has much to teach us. Her preservation is important for generations to come. She has been neglected and abused and is in much need of our care and healing. She provides us with all the sustenance we need, yet most of us do not reciprocate and give back what she needs from us. What she needs is very simple. Here are 12 ways to love and embrace nature.

  1. Go skinny dipping.
  2. Walk barefoot through a muddy creek. Don't forget to squish your toes in the mud.
  3. Lay in the grass and look at the clouds imagining what their shapes represent.
  4. Make a dandelion neck-chain.
  5. Take an afternoon nap under a shady tree.
  6. Hug a tree!
  7. Catch a toad, whisper your heart's yearnings to it while holding it in your hands. Release it.
  8. Plant a sapling.
  9. Go for a walk in the rain (no fair using an umbrella).
  10. Collect seashells along the beach.
  11. If it's fall, go for a long walk and feel the crusty leaves crumbling in your hands.
  12. If it's winter, enjoy your favorite warm drink outside, observe the water vapour from your breath and your drink. Play with it.
    Research shows that a walk in the park is more than just a nice way to spend an afternoon. It's an essential component for good health. "Through the decades, parks advocates, landscape architects, and popular writers have consistently claimed that nature had healing powers," Ming Kuo, the director of the Landscape and Human Health Laboratory at the U of I, stated.

    Nature is part of consciousness and all that is. By embracing nature and caring for her, we embrace our role on planet earth.

    A woodland in full color is awesome as a forest fire, in magnitude at least, but a single tree is like a dancing tongue of flame to warm the heart.
