If you’re like most people, you are ‘health-conscious.’ You read labels and health magazines, you go to yoga, and you exercise on your lunch break. You think you’re pretty healthy.
However, YOU are most likely the reason behind your daughter’s asthma. YOU are the reason you have aching joints and spine. YOU are the reason your son has allergies.
Or at least something quite similar.
Once again, let me explain...
Every day upon rising you take a shower. Your intent is to clean your body. Instead you are exposing yourself to toxic chlorine and other water contaminants. You lather your body with soap that smells good, but that is also full of fragrances, sudsing agents and other chemicals that cause eye irritations, skin rashes, hair loss, dandruff and more.
If you’re a woman, most likely you slasher on creams and lotions meant to soften and illuminate your skin. Instead you are covering your body’s largest detoxification and breathing organ, with toxins and chemicals that lead to irritation at best and skin cancer at worse.
You then may apply a ‘natural’ fragrance or a product containing the ingredient ‘fragrance.’ However, there are no regulations on the word ‘natural’ or ‘fragrance.’ Synthetic fragrances can have as many as 400 ingredients and there is no way to know what they are. However, their side effects include: headaches, dizziness, rashes, violent coughing, vomiting, and skin irritations.
Most likely you are eating healthfully and encouraging your family to do the same. Whole grain cereal, whole-wheat toast, orange juice and low-fat milk for breakfast? If you’re like most Americans, then yes. The cereal contains preservatives, sugars disguised under chemical names and processed oils. The milk contains growth hormones, synthetic estrogen, antibiotics and other medications used in the raising of dairy cows. And the orange juice? Loaded with sugar and pesticide residue.
Pesticides are not water soluble. They gravitate towards fat stores in your body. Furthermore, your body will hold onto extra fat in the presence of toxins in order to prevent them from going into the bloodstream. And you wonder why you can’t lose that extra 10 pounds from your waist?
You see the amount of toxins and chemicals you have been exposed to and you haven’t even left your home for work yet? Many studies have shown that the home environment is actually more polluted then the air outside of your home.
Then you go to work. You inhale formaldehyde from new desk, chairs and office furniture. You make copies at the laser printer, inhaling addition chemicals in the process.
And you wonder why you may have an afternoon crash? It’s no wonder due to the fact that our bodies are bombarded from all directions on a daily basis to a chemical cocktail soup that is unlike anything our bodies have ever experienced before.
Cases of cancer, heart disease, allergies, and bodily pain are a whole lot more common then instances of people feeling great, dancing in the streets and having a surplus of energy.
Can you guess the difference between hypothetical person A who feels tired and lethargic most of the day and person B who is full of life and energy?
Person B is removing the toxins from her body faster than he is accumulating them. Person A, on the other hand, is simply accumulating toxins. Leading to a rundown body and mind.
In 2000, more than four billion pounds of chemicals were released into the ground and almost two billion pounds of chemical emissions were pumped into the atmosphere. Our planet, not to mention our bodies, simply cannot be expected to deal with such a massive amount of neglect and abuse.
Our bodies have developed sophisticated detoxification mechanisms over many thousands of years to eliminate most of the naturally produced toxins they encounter on a regular basis. The Industrial Revolution and its resulting synthetic chemicals found in places such as food, water, soil, air, household and workplace materials, and medicine have created a new dilemma for the human body. It’s too much right now. Our bodies simply cannot handle the onslaught of synthetic chemicals we throw at them. We may be able to handle some of these toxins but over time, the large amount consumed, drunk, inhaled, or absorbed by the average person greatly exceeds his or her body’s capacity to detoxify them.
It is absolutely vital to detox your body. I recommend at least four detoxes a year - one with each changing of the seasons. (This in addition to eating a healthy and naturally detoxifying diet and getting daily exercise.)
The most important detox program to start with? The liver flush!
The primary way in which your body expels toxins is via the liver, which detoxifies and cleanses your body by continuously filtering the blood of poisons that enter it through the digestive tract, the skin, and the respiratory system. But when your liver becomes overworked as a result of stress or excessive exposure to toxins, your entire system can be thrown off balance, and your health severely compromised.
The liver flush is a gentle week-long process that helps to flush gallstones that have accumulated in the liver. I guide clients through this process on a monthly basis. Contact me for more information, if you’re interested.
Once your liver is allowed to actually function like it was meant to, people find they have more energy, sleep better, have a better handle on stressful situations and so much more!
Regardless of how you choose to detoxify and cleanse your body - just remember that it is absolutely vital that you do so. We no longer live in Kansas, Toto. The world is a toxic and disease-promoting place. Do yourself a favor, don’t fool yourself any longer, and trust in the importance of a “Spring Cleaning” for your body!
