Inventor Creates A Human-Powered Vehicle To Take The Treadmill Outdoors

The Lopifit is not an electric bike, it’s not a scooter, it’s not a treadmill. It’s all three combined and could revolutionize the way we think about electric scooter transport.

The Lopifit is a totally new way of moving. With the electric assist it takes no more effort to walk then “a walk in the park”. The electric assist in combination with the gear is boosting your walking pace up to the speed of a regular bike.

The inventor, Bruin Bergmeester lives in a small village in Holland and has built all of his five Lopifit prototypes in his living room.

When asked how he came up with the idea, Bruin explains he works full time and sits all day, so he likes to exercise on a treadmill at home.

One day it was lovely outside and Bruin did not fancy spending time on a bicycle, which meant sitting again, so he thought to himself: “Why not bring the treadmill outdoors?” And so the Lopifit was born.

How does the Lopifit work?

When you are walking on the Lopifit, you push the treadmill backwards with your feet. A sensor is registrating the movement off the treadmill and gives a signal to an electronic device which will activate the motor. The motor now supports you to continue the walking movement. Using the brake will shut off the motor immediately. If you are going downhill a freewheel function is activated.

Being electrical, the Lopifit runs quite fast and is equally good going uphill. It is suited for all ages, all leg lengths, and all physical conditions.

The bike features led lighting, shimano transmission, a powerful electric driven quantum motor and a luggage carrier.

How can you get one?

A bicycle maker from Holland, Utrecht, is available to build them on demand.

Bruin says he is looking for a manufacturer in the US and they are currently shipping worldwide.
