Tap water has received a lot of press lately, especially
by the mainstream media who has touted that water from
your tap is a great alternative to bottled water. They
claim it should be your first choice since the government
promises pure, clean and healthy water to consumers. Research
about tap water proves otherwise.
Some of the claims made to try and convince you that
tap is better for you are as follows:
1. Tap water is tested daily
Claim: Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, water suppliers
are required to provide an annual report on the
quality of your local water and to test tap water daily.
Reality: There are close to 150 unregulated contaminants
with no safety standards and are never tested by the Environmental
Protection Agency or any other health and safety divisions
of government. So it doesn't make a difference how often
your tap water is tested because of the more than 260
contaminants detected, only 114 have enforceable health
limits set by government.
2. Tap water is a bargain
Claim: Filtered and bottled water can cost up to 1000
times more than tap.
Reality: If you buy expensive bottled water from
companies with exaggerated claims that falsely boost their
product's quality, you will pay substantially more than
tap. The reality is, an effective plastic faucet-mounted,
solid-carbon block filter will cost you less than $4 per
month. That's less than most people spend on a latte at
Starbucks.
3. Tap water is a tooth saver
Claim: Tap water has more fluoride than other water
sources, which helps prevent tooth decay.
Reality: Drinking any amount of fluoride is dangerous
to your health and has NEVER been proven to prevent tooth
decay. It's actually the biggest scientific fraud ever
to be promoted by national and international Governments.

and even very small concentrations can disrupt DNA repair
enzymes by 50%.
4. Tap water is often tasty
Claim: Some places claim to have delicious tap
water that rival bottled and filtered waters.
Reality: If the taste of metallic, chlorinated
and contaminated water tastes delicious to you, then taste
is not one of your fully functioning senses. You will
never drink tap water again if you consistently switch
to clean filtered and uncontaminated water.
